Roses and Perfume

Rose, queen of flowers, you make me so happy. I adore roses. At one time I had 96 pink rose bushes of different varieties growing in my yard. My favorite ones to collect are the moss roses. Hundreds of petals that all smell fruity and floral at the same time. My husband bought me the Miss Dior Cherie collection and I love the subtle sophistication of the hint of roses without being too floral. The print ads are so beautiful with all the different varieties of roses in the background.

Vintage Bow Brooches

Bow brooches have been popular since the 18th Century. In the 1930's Eisenberg Originals started reproducing some of the pieces and did such quality work that stores began to have a problem with shoplifting. I wonder if the bow brooch worn by Norma Sheerer in Marie Antoinette was an Eisenberg Original? I noticed in Cheri that Michelle Pfeiffer wears a tiny bow pin at her neck. It's a bit difficult to see in the photo above but it is absolutely charming. My favorite Christmas present this year was from my dear friend Holly who gave me a huge Eisenberg bow that I have worn on my sweaters, jeans, headbands, hats, coats and anywhere else I can pin it to show it off. It adds a touch of girly bling to anything.

Les Merveilleuses Laduree Makeup Launch

Laudree has launched a beautiful cosmetic line in Japan. The rose petals are actually blush...how delightfully clever. You must visit their website and check out the other pieces. There are eyeshadows, lipsticks, skin care. Everything a girly-girl could want. Hopefully they will bring it to the New York location so we can buy it too.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY

Madame de Pompadour

I'm about half way through Madame de Pompadour by Evelyne Lever and am so fascinated by the power and persuasion of this historical figure. The Pompadour used her beauty and charm to warm the heart of the King and eventually helped him rule France. She was scorned by most, as all the King's mistresses were, but more than usual due to her influence in government affairs. She was a great patron of the arts and performed in many plays, operas and ballets to entertain the King. When she built Chateau Bellevue, which was destroyed during the Revolution, she added a unique theatre designed to expand from an intimate gathering to a 500 seat auditorium. She was a lover of beauty and flowers and surrounded herself with sumptuous fabrics, oil paintings and architecture. Though her health was poor and she died young, her legacy of beauty lives on.

Paris Patisserie

Cold winter days make me long for a hot cup of coffee and a twice baked almond croissant. All crispy and flakey on the outside, and buttery melt-in-your-mouth almondy on the inside. Could this be heaven on earth? I think so. This is what I ordered at the Petit Versailles Bakery near our quaint hotel in Paris every morning. Even their ceiling reminded me of heaven...pink roses and swallows flying around a glittering chandelier. Aaaaah.

Have a Beautiful Day in Hell by Moxie

Photos: Moxie.com

Moxie is the cutest line of feminine products available. Their website is adorable. http://www.moxie.com/ I've been using them for a while now and love their sweet packaging. Especially the little bows printed on everything and embossed in the pads themselves. They come in darling little tins that just say Moxie, so if they fell out of your purse you wouldn't have to be embarassed. The best part about this line is the tampons are unscented. It seems like every other line available in the stores are packaged in pink if they are scented and blue if they are unscented. What about us pink girls that want to buy unscented products? Now we can. I love the humor in their marketing campaign...have a beautiful day in hell.
